Facade work is one of the most common boom lift applications in Malaysian cities. Compared with a gondola that has to be rigged from the roof, an aerial lift can be driven in during the morning and start work the same day.

Planning Machine Positions Around the Building
Before the machine arrives, walk the building and mark every position it will stand in. Note drains, hydrant covers, landscaping, and parking bays that will need to be cleared.
Order those positions to follow the work sequence so the machine travels in one direction around the building. On a mid-sized block that usually cuts a full day off the hire.
Horizontal Outreach Matters More Than Height
On facade work the obstacles are usually on the ground, not in the air. Entrance porches, canopies, and ramps stop the machine standing close to the wall.
An articulating boom lift wins here because the arm can rise, clear the canopy, and come back down to the wall face. For tall buildings with clear ground, a telescopic gives more outright reach.
Traffic Control and Building Permissions
Facade work on an office building or shopping centre usually needs building management approval and a pedestrian traffic control plan.
Sort those permissions out before booking the machine. A machine waiting on site because the approval letter is not ready still counts as a hire day.
- Get written approval from building management
- Agree the permitted working hours, including weekends
- Have cones and tape ready to close the area below the platform
- Notify building tenants before work starts
Estimating the Hire Period for Facade Work
For facade cleaning, one machine position typically covers about six to eight metres of wall width. Divide the building's total width by that figure to estimate the number of positions.
Then add time for repositioning. For safe planning, allow two to three positions per working day on painting work, and more on cleaning work.
